We can’t believe that it’s November already.  Thank you for your support for another year!   A big thank you to those who have been able to increase your monthly sponsorship!  You are helping us get closer to breaking even on our sponsorship cost. And to all of you who give to the general fund, thank you for helping with all our other expenses (staff salaries in Uganda, rent, utilities, community assistance, car expenses for our vehicle in Uganda, and so much more!)

Christmas Project:  Every year we seek to make our Lord’s Birthday Celebration a special time for all our sponsored children. We passed a milestone of 170 children sponsored (we currently have 173) and they represent 152 different families.  We provide a Christmas Celebration that includes awards for top students and most improved students, a wonderful meal for everyone, a gift for each family, and then a food package (including some meat) they can take to provide their own Christmas meal at home. As we have grown the cost of this project has grown as well.  We will be adding a project page on the website to track our giving progress.  The estimated need is $8000.  We plan to give each family a warm blanket for an estimated cost of about $16. You could think in terms of providing x number of blankets.

January Team: We have a team of 5 heading to Kabale on Dec. 31. Greg, Donna, Tyson, Jayden and John.  We will be joined in Kabale by Jess Richie and his wife Rachel for the first weekend with the children. We are excited to connect with them in Kabale again!  Please be in prayer for this team that we will be bold in our witness and loving in all our ways.

Joel’s surgery: Because of God’s provision through his very generous sponsor, this young man (14 years old) has been saved from completely going blind.  After consultations with specialized ophthalmologists, it was determined that there was not much they could do to save the sight in his right eye, but they laid out a plan to save the sight in his left eye.  He had successful surgery in October!  We praise God for healing and pray that his eyesight will continue to improve. We have another girl, Desire who has severe eye problems.  If you would like to help with her expenses let us know.  She will be going for more evaluation this week and we will have a better idea of what the cost will be after that exam.

School schedule:  Some of our students in candidate classes will be out of school in the next week or so.  Students who are in the final level of primary school (Primary 7) and those in the middle year of High school (secondary 4) are in what they call candidate classes.  They are finishing up National Exams.  These exams will determine whether they can move on to the next level. There is a lot of pressure during these exams. The other candidate class is for the seniors, (senior 6). This exam will determine whether they are done with their formal education; if they will progress on to Vocational school; or even to the University. We currently have 23 students in vocational training or at the University pursuing a degree. Five of these have completed their course work and are awaiting graduation.

Feedback from Parents Meetings:   Our staff continues to have 2 parent meetings each month.  This last month they spent time getting feedback from the parents on things they liked and things they didn’t like! We appreciate our staffs’ willingness to have open and honest communication with our parents. We were excited to hear from Amos that most of our parents talked about knowing God’s love through Two Roads!  That is so encouraging as God’s Word tells us that they will know we are Christians by our love!  Amen! Great job staff!!

Economic Empowerment:  Our staff has been developing plans to help our families earn income.  They recently identified 6 more families that we will help get some start-up capital to begin small businesses.  We are excited to share that we had someone make a donation and the amount was enough to cover all 6 of these business start-up costs!  We also have 7 more families that are ready to start a rabbit project when funds are available.  We will add this project to the website also. The capital needed for this project is $1000.

Land trial:  Another court date was set for last week and the judge again was not available in court.

Search for a pastor: A friend who works in ministry in Kampala has identified a few men who might be candidates for a pastor.  Amos is scheduled to meet them at the end of November.

Prayer Requests:

  • For God’s presence in every meeting and worship service.
  • For clear vision and for God’s provision as we make disciples.
  • That their love will deepen for God and that they will understand His love for them.
  • For a Pastor and the land trial. For God’s will and for wisdom for us.
  • For our finances and more sponsors.
  • For our January trip: Greg, Donna, Tyson, Jayden and John.

Prayer is the most aggressive, pro-active, offensive, invasive action one can take in any situation. Prayer reaches into the spiritual realm and accesses all the power of heaven for the circumstances of earth.  (2 Cor. 10:4-5)

May we all be found faithful,

Greg & Donna
