Two Roads continues because God has touched each of you to become part of what He is doing in Kabale, Uganda. We are very thankful for each one of you!

September is a month of transition.  Our greatest highlight of this past month was the holiday program.

  • The children are out of school and come to the junction for age graded small groups. We had two different topics for this holiday, one for primary which was developing character while for the secondary students we spoke about sex through God’s lenses.  We are blessed to have staff that teach truth! There are larger groups for Sunday worship as all our boarders are out of school.
  • Academic Reviews: Our staff did academic reviews where they probed why certain kids with great potential had grades below their ability. They encouraged those who needed encouragement and pushed for the maximization of effort this next term. They also helped the students to set goals and guided them on how they can achieve these goals.
  • Parent’s Meeting (for detail read below)
  • Returning to School: Toward the end of September, the children went back to school for their final term this year. This last term will end with the Christmas break.  Amos reports that all our sponsored children are back in school now.  We still meet our day scholars for Sunday junction day for Bible study and games.

Christmas Project: have begun to plan already for the Christmas project.  The Christmas project includes a meal and celebration of Christ’s birth. We provide food packages for all our families and provide a gift for each family also. We also give awards to our best performing students and also the most improved.

Upcoming trip. We will be taking a team of 5 for our January trip. We have a college pastor and 2 college students planning to make the trip with us. The trip dates are Dec. 31st- Jan. 14th.

Business Empowerment: As our sponsorship program has matured it has developed a vibrant ministry to parents and caregivers. We have worked to help our parents get resources to help themselves.  We have developed the successful rabbit project which has helped a number of families in the past.  We have at least 5 more families we would like to help establish raising rabbits (this costs roughly $100 each). We have a team of staff working to evaluate other business opportunities and evaluate each parent applicant on an individual basis. Once they have been vetted and then given some basic training we will provide them with start-up capital. The amount given will depend on the business type and the resources available from the US. The range of capital required will range between $300 and $600.  If you would like to help with this ongoing project you can give through the website using Stripe, PayPal or if you already give through ACH (auto debit) you can let us know and we can set up a one-time draft. Just mark your payments business empowerment.

Prayer Requests:

*For God’s presence in every meeting and worship service.

*For clear vision and for God’s provision as we make disciples.

*That their love will deepen for God and that they will understand His love for them.

*For a Pastor and the land trial. For God’s will and for wisdom for us.

*For our finances and more sponsors.

*For our January trip: Greg, Donna, Tyson, Jayden and John.

Prayer is not passive, it is participation. When you pray, you link arms with believers across cultures and continents as one family in Christ.

More detail about Parents’ meetings

We had two parents’ meetings this month;

  • The student/ parents meeting: was had with both the parents and the students and emphasis was put on reminding our students on giving their very best at school. We cautioned parents to be involved in their childrens lives both at home and school so that they know how best they can support them.
  • General parents meeting: This meeting was intended to do a review on the past meetings which included intentional parenting, the topic about mental health, and servant leadership (service beyond self).

One of the topics that stayed with most of them was the one about servant leadership. Greg did a demonstration by washing one of the parents’ feet as an example of what serving others should look like. They admitted it doesn’t come easy but its what is required of them by God.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers.

God bless,

Greg, Donna, Amos and the staff.
